What is the MAISON DE L’ENFANCE?
An innovative proposal for an integrated child and family service centre
The Maison de l’enfance, an innovative proposal for an integrated child and family service centre, opened in March 2013. The Maison de l’enfance provides children and families, and especially those living in underprivileged situations, a wide range of healthcare, social, and community services, all in the same warm and welcoming location close to home.
The Maison de l’enfance brings together under the same roof, and within the same project, a Maison des familles, a social pediatrics centre and a daycare (centre de la petite enfance).
The Maison de l’enfance: a place to grow
A welcoming and family-friendly environment, a warm and caring staff, the Maison de l’enfance is meant first and foremost as a meeting point to exchange ideas, to foster dialogue, and to seek help. Families are offered personalized support to help them guide their children through their development and to grow in their role as parents.
Building mutual trust with an open-minded team, respectful of parents’ and children’s rights, and respecting their strengths, is at the heart of the Maison de l’enfance‘s approach. The creation of a sense of belonging —which is made easier by the multiple and complementary services offered under the same roof— ensures that the resources are used, especially by vulnerable families and immigrant families looking for a home base.
